The Perfect Storm
Mommy went to the beach today with some ladies from church. She had arranged that we cancel string lessons. The madness began when Adam came home from a job unexpectedly. This was about 12:00. I had to call Josh(my teacher.) to see if it was okay if we came to lessons today instead of rescheduling. Surprise! String lessons are on. John was out working with Mr. Martin, Evan was at work, so no one was there to help me get Laura ready. I hadn't practiced my cello all morning. While Laura ate lunch that Adam made her, I tried to get a little practice in. I have no idea what kind of profitable things James and Adam were doing with their time. I made myself some lunch and encouraged Laura to eat her lunch and quit dillydallying. Normally, Mom tries to leave at 12:30 to get over to 82nd in Portland. I watched 12:30 come and go. "Laura were are your tights?" With the instruments in the back, the rest of Laura's lunch and mine on a plastic plate, the Neo Geo in one of James' hands and the ipod in the other, and Adam in the drivers seat, we start up Carr St. The time is around 12:45. I wasn't really worried. Adam was driving. The Perfect Storm was playing through the speakers. We arrived for strings with a little time to spare. I got a needle tuner for my birthday, and I was able to get the hertz/caliber adjusted. It was really bugging me a few nights before. My cello lesson was great. On the way home, James had me look back at him in the back seat. Laura was asleep on his shoulder. No wonder, because it had really been the perfect storm.
